NOWHERE TO HIDE

statement
Human actions leave digital traces in this data-driven era, but the quantification of data and the intention of these actions may deviate or even conflict. Besides, human desire promotes technology, and the technology, in turn, puts temptations in the way of their creators who will ultimately be coerced by their creation. For this reason, countless people actively or passively give in to the authority, and countless authorities establish a system with its rules. Therefore, compared with this ubiquitous and powerful system, the individual is extremely insignificant. All the individual can do is answer the question am I brave enough to accept the consequences of escaping the system? Based on these concepts, this work “Nowhere to hide” will discuss the conflicting but symbiotic relationship between privacy and data.

The containers are trapped with human figures, and the smaller containers form the larger ones, which eventually constitute the "system". There are some commonalities in the social structure of humans and bees, so the container abstracts the hive hole and uses the hive structure as a metaphor.

And with darkness at both ends of the system, we do not know the cost of escaping the system. This is the reason why the third installation is located on top of an unprotected building where escaping may result in the discovery of new paths or unknown dangers.

The VR device sets a safety range that is limited by the boundaries of the "system". When the safety range is exceeded, the viewer is warned and a blurred black and white image of reality is displayed.。

The model consists of two integrated turntables.

One side is divided equally into three parts and filled with liquid. After applying force, it can continue to rotate under the force of the liquid and drive another rotating disc. The other side consists of a spiral shape. When a small ball is put in, it rotates from outside to inside in the rotation of the wheel along the way, and falls into the channel back to the origin after rotating into the center.

The former implies that man's desire drives the development of technology, and technology acting on man catalyzes man's desire. Man creates things and is held hostage by the things he creates. The latter is a reflection of the law of development of things, advancing and developing, approaching the truth, and eventually annihilating, but after annihilation comes the new life.

The viewer is allowed to use the 3D printing pen freely, and the process is recorded by the multi-directional cameras. The three-dimensional traces left by the user are lopsided and data-driven.

The footage recorded by the camera is recorded by another device. The watcher becomes the watched.

The abandoned building is deserted and sparsely populated, with plants breaking through the steel and concrete and growing in the rubble. The air is extremely fresh, like being in a jungle. However, it is surrounded by huge concrete columns. The contradiction between industry and nature is presented in the best possible way, yet in a very harmonious way.
