APPETITE

I hope that my artworks can show the negative emotions such as helplessness, panic, and disgust of fellow women who are the victims of sexual harassment in society. After conducting research and a series of interviews, It became apparent that objectification and deprivation happens  regardless of the gender and age in any form not limited to sexual assault. Therefore, the “Appetite” is personified as victims with different genders and identities by virtue of visual presentation of the abstract harm to the victims.

In addition, I discovered that the objectification and violation of others like this, which are driven by animalistic desire, is physical and mental torture to their mind and body. For this reason, my work "Appetite" aims to present the trauma of the victims by showing the audience sweet food such as cakes, cream, candy, etc which induce their appetite, so they are involved in “dividing the victim” by cutting and chewing, which I hope to provoke discussion and reflection on current social reality.

SCENE 1

THE CLASSROOM

The UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) statistics show the multiplicity and severity of bullying in schools.

Therefore, the "Appetite" exhibition will travel around in a school, switch scenes according to the degree of cake being shared and suggest the damage of bullying. It will also try to provide some positive guidance to the teenagers and children in the school through this process.

As the exhibition progressed, one random occurrence caught my attention: a hide-and-seek game evolved into a scuffle among the younger audience. Although there was no overreaction in this process, it made me think of how many bullies see bullying as a game. Therefore I kept this series of images.
